Congratulations on your pregnancy and journey into parenthood!

During the months of your pregnancy, your labor, and the early weeks of postpartum you will have many choices to make about the type of medical and emotional care you and your new baby will receive. These choices might include everything from deciding where you want to give birth to what you would like to happen in the moments immediately following your baby’s birth.

As a doula, Zoë’s goals are to support you in accessing evidence-based information about your options, so you can feel informed and supported in making the decisions that are right for you and your soon-to-be born baby. Zoë aims to empower you to advocate for what’s important to you, make sure you’re as comfortable as possible during your labor, and help you recall the details of your birth afterwards. If necessary, Zoë can step in to advocate for you, but will always focus on making sure your wishes are the ones being respected. She recognizes that only you, as the birthing parent, know what’s right for you and your new baby. Her goal is to support you in making decisions and supporting you through the birth process.

Postpartum care and support has been a lifelong passion for Zoë. During your early postpartum weeks and months, Zoë can support you as you learn to support your new little one. She can help you access local resources, and provide a listening ear as you navigate the choices that come with parenthood. She also provides hands on support around the house.

Comfort and Advocacy

During your labor Zoë will provide in-person support. This includes helping with comfort measures during labor, and helping to advocate to make sure your provider (your midwife or OB/GYN) is aware of, and respecting, the things most important to you, so that you can focus on giving birth.

Whether you’re feeling excited, scared, or any combination of emotions about your upcoming birth, research shows that doulas help improve outcomes for both newborns and the birthing parent, including lower rates of cesarean births, shorter labors, and more satisfaction with birth.
